AgriXplainer
AgriXPlainer is an international Erasmus+ project that introduces a new European educational approach for small farmers, family-run agri-food businesses, producers, and schools. Its mission is to strengthen effective communication and marketing, helping them clearly, simply, and ethically explain the value of local food to customers and communities. Marketing here is seen not only as a tool for sales but also as a way to educate consumers about sustainability and local production.
The project provides free tools and educational materials tailored especially for micro and small enterprises in rural areas. Developed by partners from seven countries, these practical outputs are available under an open license (CC BY-SA):
Atlas and Psychometric Test – mapping marketing strategies across Europe and offering a 70-item self-assessment.
MOOC course – with more than 280 minutes of video content on online marketing in the agri-food sector.
Policy recommendations – based on an analysis of 70 policies supporting agri-food micro-enterprises across the EU.
By offering these resources, AgriXPlainer helps small producers grow their businesses even without large marketing budgets—empowering them to communicate more effectively and build stronger connections with their customers.

Clear and understandable marketing for the agri-food sector
In today’s fast-changing food market, clarity and transparency are essential. Consumers want to know not only what they are buying, but also how and why it was produced. For small farmers and agri-food microenterprises, this is both a challenge and an opportunity.
Clear and understandable marketing means using simple, honest messages to explain the real value of products – from sustainable farming practices and ethical labelling to stories about people and traditions behind the food. It avoids technical jargon and focuses on building trust, connection, and credibility.
For farmers, it helps strengthen competitiveness by showing customers the difference between industrial and local production. For consumers, it provides the knowledge needed to make informed choices that support sustainability, fairness, and healthier lifestyles.
At AgriXplainer, we support producers with tools such as the Atlas of Educational Marketing Practices, the MOOC platform, and the Policy Recommendations. These resources make it easier to design communication strategies that are authentic, accessible, and impactful – helping small agri-food businesses thrive while promoting values that matter to communities and the environment.
A voice for farmers and local brands
We believe that every farmer has something to say – they just need the right tools and space. That’s why we’re creating practical, easy-to-use, and accessible marketing tools that help micro-enterprises gain visibility even without a big budget or advertising agency. The project focuses on supporting rural regions and authentic local brands that deserve to be seen and heard.
